Can you extend the front of your house

According to the Citizens Information Ireland website, you do not generally need planning permission to build a front porch as long as it’s area is not over 2 metres sq and as long as it is further than 2 metres from a public road or walkway. A tiled or slated roof can reach up to 4 metres but other roofs must not be more than 3 metres in height.
